About

When I started this blog, I’d written a number of novels – romance, romantic suspense, a fantasy and a thriller – but my only publication credits were a couple of poems and short fiction (long ago). Last year, a romance novel I wrote fifteen years ago was accepted by Escape and Snowy River Man, was released in February 2015 under the pen-name, Lizzy Chandler. My second romance novel, another manuscript from my bottom drawer, is due out in December.

This year, I’ve been more of a reader than a writer, devoting attention to books for the Australian Women Writers Challenge, a challenge I established in 2012 to help overcome gender bias in the reviewing of books by Australian women. I’m still hoping to write and publish something with a degree of literary merit. In the meantime, I’ll make do with reading the brilliant offerings of my fellow Australian writers, some of whose work is reviewed here.

If you want to get in touch, please email me at elhuede[at]gmail.com.

  1. Hello Elizabeth: I’m writing to you re Australian Women Writers Challenge (no contact details on that blog?). My computer had a wonky moment when I tried to list my name and my first AWW review, so you might want to delete the two incorrect “writereaderly”s from the review list. I’ll update the AWW blog with my other reviews soon. Sorry about kerfuffle. WR

    • That’s an oversight! I’m just fixing it now. Thanks for taking the trouble.

We’ll be changing across to WordPress for 2013, so hopefully it’ll be a lot easier for people to post and find reviews.

      • Cool, thanks.

It seems that when you’re in the first Mr Linky box-set trying to put your name in, and you tab down to put your URL in, it actually tabs you to the next Mr Linky box-set.

I’m glad the challenge has been set up, I know it’s encouraging me to read more Australian women generally. Great work!

        Cheers, WR

        • That is so frustrating! Can’t wait to swap to Google forms for next year’s challenge. Glad you’ve found the challenge inspiring. I look forward to reading more of your reviews.

  3. Hi Elizabeth,
I am preparing an article for Le petit journal Melbourne (French online newspaper), and I’m planning to write about the famous Australian authors. I was wondering if you could give me some tips for the women writers. Would you be able to give me about 8-10 names of the most significant women writers (preferably 20th and 21st century)?. Please contact me on my email montane.angelique@gmail.com. I’ll also post the bit on my blog Le koala lit.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Cheers,
    Angélique
